Rotary International Theme 2007-2008

Rotary International is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious service club in existence.  Over 1.2 million members belonging to more than 28,000 clubs in virtually every nation in the world have provided community service, encouraged ethical business practices, and built goodwill in ways they could never do on their own.  For example, over the last couple of years, the Rotary Club of Monrovia has provided manpower, organizational skills or financial support to such things as:

The Boys and Girls Club, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, KGEM, The Santa Anita YMCA,

The City of Monrovia’s Public Library, their annual Halloween event, Easter Egg Hunt, Summer Dinner Theater and Monrovia Day celebration,

The Monrovia Unified School District’s ROP program, restroom and snack shop building project, Proactive Tutoring program, The School Foundation, the Swim Team, as well as various scholarships.

The Chamber of Commerce, Meals on Wheels, The Unity Center, The American Cancer Society and well, you get the idea.

Those are just some of our local projects.  On an international level, we have played a part in Rotary International’s drive to eradicate polio, provided mosquito netting to save lives in malaria stricken regions of Africa and supplied the finances and manpower to build a house for a needy family in Mexico.

The Rotary Club of Monrovia meets every Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. at the Monrovian Restaurant located at 534 S. Myrtle Ave in downtown Monrovia.  We encourage those individuals who are curious about how they can get involved in an outstanding volunteer community service organization that allows them to "share" thier time, talent and resources to check us out.

Sincerely,

Dennis Franklin

President
